Fall colors, busy fiber shows

We have had a busy fall. No sooner did the New Carlisle farmers market end, but we frantically got ready for our Fall open house. The Saturday was cold and wet, and still visitors came all day long. Sunday was sunny and warm, again lots of visitors, and we sold 3 alpacas who will be going to a really good home. Then In October we took 2 boys to visit Zion Lutheran preschool's enrichment class. The alpacas were a big hit, after 20 preschoolers petted and posed for pictures, the boys were loaded in the mini van for a trip to visit a title bureau where Lauretta does business for the car lot, while there they were invited into a beauty salon and a jewelry store! They were happy to get home after all those new sights and smells. Now we are preparing for a New Carlisle farmer's fall one day market, November 7th; November 14th we will be at a charity event for Noble Circle a support group for cancer survivors. Thanksgiving weekend we will be at the Hara Arena National Holiday show in Dayton. We will be open every Saturday in December before Christmas from noon to 5 PM. Come see us and our 7 babies

new baby

Our Crystal Fay gave birth to her first cria about 15 days early, but with no problems and he was fully cooked! The sire is Renaissance Farms' Prime Minister. This cria looks like his father with crimpy fine fleece, perfect conformation. We are hoping he will do as well in the show ring as his father! We are pleased that Crystal has plenty of milk. we used lactation herbs with her starting the first of August to encourage milk production, since this was her first cria, we didn't know how she would do. She is a watchful mom. Usually cria's follow their mother. In this case, the independent cria runs off, and mom runs after him, calling him with a distinctive hum! Crystal's mother is in the foaling pen with her, and is due one day after Crystals's due date (September 9th). She usually delivers early, so we're hoping and watching her anxious to see Denali's first cria hit the ground. We expect a total of 5 crias this fall, come visit us and experience the joy of watching crias at play.
